CAD Technician – Buildings & Structures

Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Technician will prepare complete and detailed drawings utilizing AutoCAD AEC software platform for a broad range of building and structural design projects.  The CAD Technician will work with a team of professional, technical, and administrative staff to complete building and structure design projects by preparing complete plan and detail drawings.

The CAD Technician is an important and integral part of the PCE team, and the position responsibilities  include:

  • Prepare complete drawing packages including floor plan layouts, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, MEP plans, and associated details for permitting and construction.
  • Prepare diagrams, figures, schedules, etc. for inclusion in professional reports and narratives.
  • Prepare presentation drawings for use in client meetings and public presentations.
  • Prepare MEP plans, details and schedules.
  • Utilize AutoCAD AEC suite of software including Revit in preparing project drawings.
  • Prepare drawing reproductions and assemble final drawing packages.
  • Maintain and update CAD software and drawing reproduction equipment.
  • Support professional and technical staff in preparing final project deliverables.
  • Other duties as capabilities and experience allows (e.g. Revit, Renderings, etc.).

Experience, knowledge, and proficiency with CAD software is necessary to become a competent PCE CAD Technician capable of meeting the high standards of service we provide to our clients.  The primary requirements that are necessary for the CAD Technician include:

  • Technical education to establish a comprehensive understanding of Computer Aided Drafting software platforms and how to utilize the software effectively and efficiently.  Proficiency with AutoCAD is required, and experience with the AutoCAD AEC platform is desired.
  • Experience as a CAD Technician in the field of building design or similar fields is beneficial.  Typically, we would expect applicants to have at least three years of experience.  However, we may also consider entry-level candidates should they demonstrate a willingness and ability to apply their knowledge and skill to meet the position needs.
  • Ability to utilize standard business software such as the Microsoft Office platform.
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn new and developing computer software and technologies.  The CAD Technician must be capable to keep up with the ever-changing CAD software advancements.
  • Good communication skills.  The CAD Technician will work closely with other PCE team members, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and through written notes is important.
  • Good organization skills to maintain an effective and productive work program and schedule.

CAD Technician – Civil

Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Technician will prepare complete and detailed drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil3D software for a broad range of Civil Engineering projects.  The CAD Technician will work with a team of professional, technical, and administrative staff to complete site and facility development projects by preparing site plans and maps, grading plans, stormwater management plans, utility plans, etc.

The CAD Technician is an important and integral part of the PCE team, and the position responsibilities  include:

  • Prepare technical plan layout and construction detail drawings.
  • Prepare maps, diagrams, figures for inclusion in professional reports and narratives.
  • Prepare presentation drawings for use in client meetings and public presentations.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil3D to provide area and quantity take-off data to other team members.
  • Prepare earthwork cut/fill analysis and provide reporting to other team members for use in preparing project designs.
  • Prepare drawing reproductions and assemble final drawing packages.
  • Maintain and update CAD software and drawing reproduction equipment.
  • Support professional and technical staff in preparing final project deliverables.
  • Other duties as capabilities and experience allows.

Engineering Technician

Candidates must have at least 2 years design experience with land development projects. Responsibilities include data acquisition and evaluation, detailed design, report preparation, etc. in the areas of stormwater management, land development, and Erosion/Sedimentation control. Civil 3D experience is desired. Civil engineering degree and E.I.T. is preferred, but experienced candidates will be considered.

Project Manager/Engineer

Licensed Professional Engineer with civil and/or structural design experience. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of design engineering experience with excellent technical writing and communication skills. The position will require the ability to develop engineering solutions as well as manage projects to a successful completion. Responsibilities include preparation of complete site development designs, contract administration, project management, and client relations. The ability to present a clear understanding of engineering methods and solutions to clients and regulatory review personnel is a must. Civil 3D experience is desired.
